As a new entrant to the ENS sufferers world…I believe that the international society of otolaryngology shoUldale issue a statement banning any doctor from unilaterally deciding on any level of tampering with this very important part of the nostrils under any circumstances.
Any decision must be carried out by a college of qualified ENT consultants where there is a threat to life in terms of untreatabke cancerous tissues etc.
Any doctor who undertakes such a needless and life damaging surgery in any part of the world should have their practice license withdrawn and a case of medical malpractice be raised against such a party by the local otolaryngology society while paying disability to the victims.
Can someone please help me is there a ENT doctor in the washington, DC region that specialize in helping people who are suffering from Empty Nose Syndrome?
I was referred to Dr. Houser by an ENT pyhsician. Basically, the reason I would like to be seen is due to a sinus surgery I had done and now I think that I may be experiencing alittle Empty Nose Syndrome. The doctor did a turbinate reduction, septoplasty and opened up my sinuses because I complained of head pressure for years but now I think this surgery was all wrong for me and now I am experiencing constant facial pain, increased airflow due to the turbinate reduction that I think is irritating a nerve which is causing the pain, and overall depression and sadness. I seen over a dozen doctors and they all are saying nothings wrong and that there\’s nothing that can really be done for me to correct this problem. I really would like a solution to fix the turbinates, if there is a way to bring them back to their normal function Its one doctor in particular that said she heard of Dr. Houser helping people with turbinate problems and she feels he could help me, hopefully so.
Dr. Houser does deal with ENS. I just discovered this blog and realize how old your post is but was wondering if you were able to see a doctor about your condition.
Hi All,
I am from Massachusetts and am having a very difficult time finding any doctors who will acknowledge the condition of Empty Nose Syndrome. Since I have been ill much of the summer, it is imperative that I find a doctor who can diagnose me, so that I might be eligible for temporary disability. Please, if anyone knows of a doctor in MA (My husbands unemployed and our insurance only covers Massachusetts) I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, if you know how to reach Mr. David Andrew Lemberg from the Empty Nose Association in Nantucket, MA, I would appreciate knowing the email to contact him. I have seen the organization in many places on the net, but none provide his email.

hey , my name is bashar & i had a turbinoctomy recently which looks like it turned out like a living hell, i feel suffocating i cant sleep properly i have exessive post-nasal drip that is choking me , i can’t speak! my social life is ruined, i dont feel anything, am very deeply depressed & the problem is that i live in the middle east where we have butchers not doctors!! , does anybody know of a Dr that does implants surgeries to the turbinates to help with the symptoms in the middle east(especially in Jordan) , i know its a hopeless question but no harm in asking thanks,,

I like to take an airplaine trip but I am scared because of my ENS that is hard to deal with as it is. I am in constant pain. How can I take care of it without an pulsating irrigation device to moisten my nose and what could I take with me to moisten my nose.
Omigosh, I was terrified of that for years. I finally did it a year ago. You can take small bottles of saline spray. I forget if you can take 2 ounce or 4 ounce bottles, but the amount is on all the websites as to what you can take on board and how they have to be packed. I think you take siccalix or other moisturizers. However, if you are in constant pain, maybe you had better wait. Airplane cabins are pressurized and could make the pain worse. Wait until you are somewhat ok on the ground.

There is currently no treatment to regenerate turbinate tissue. Dr. Steven Houser in Cleveland, Ohio can rebuild turbinates in some ENS patients.
Can empty nose symdrone cause almost constant post nasal drip?
Yes, there is one condition, a form of rhinitis, that can be caused by Empty Nose Syndrome. I think it is referred to as allergic rhinitis. I had it along with ENS. I was sent to an allergist who tested me for all known allergens. I tested negative for all of them. Yet I had that type of rhinitis after my nose was butchered.

my solution :
(my english is not very good so..)
I had a nose operation a few years ago that didn’t work out..;
Now I have difficulties to breath especially when I’m laying down.
My nights had become a nightmare.
Now I place against my nose a wet(not too wet, let’s say humide) handerchief or à bath glove (thin) that I fix to my face with a chain of elastiques (rubberbands) tied together and attached to my ears ( not very attractive but whatever…)
The air that arrives in my nose becomes humid and warm. There is less air coming in at once.
And I can sleep at last.
I have to wet the glove once in the night. I change it every day.
During the day time I always take a scarve with me in case of dry air ( airconditionning or in winter )through which I breath.
