First Stem Cell Therapy for ENS Performed Today
The first stem call injection therapy for Empty Nose Syndrome in the United States was performed today. The procedure was performed by Dr. Subinoy Das of the U.S. Institute for Advanced Sinus Care and Research in Columbus, Ohio. The patient had this to say about his experience:
Hello Everyone, I just left Dr. Das office. He performed the stem cell, acell and prp procedure this morning. Everything went well and their were no hiccups. He first drew some blood for the prp. Then I was laid down on my stomach with a gown on and they sterilized the love handle area for harvesting. He injected the numbing solution and waited for about fifteen minutes. Then he performed liposuction on one side. The lipo took about 15 to 20 minutes. I did not feel any pain. I felt some pressure where he was going back and forth with canula. He then lightly centrifuged the fat and mixed it with the acell and prp. He obtained about 8 ml of fat total. He then injected into both turbinates bilaterally. He went directly through the head along side the turbinate bone. He would inject whlle withdrawing the needle so the solution would go the entire length of the remaining turbinate. Then he injected both sides of my septum. Injecting the septum was a bit more painful but not bad. He said i may feel better initially but will likely have a setback but then in about 30 days start to hopefully feel better as the stem cells work there magic. Thank you Dr Das, Barb and Melanie for making it a smooth process and providing me hope.
